US - Controls Engineer I

Under the direct supervision of the controls department manager and/or the controls project lead, efficiently perform all activities associated with controls design and implementation engineering. This includes close interaction with project teams in a positive and focused manner to realize productive results. Clear inter-departmental communication is necessary as are frequent customer discussions. The individual must also provide accurate and high quality work with minimal supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Minimal responsibilities shall include but not be limited to:

  • Controls hardware design, configuration and implementation (assuring that designs and applications meet and/or exceed compliance with all codes such as NEC, NFPA, UL, CUL, CE, and local / regional & federal regulations)
  • Controls software design, configuration and implementation
  • HMI / SCADA design, configuration and implementation
  • Order Entry and procurement of all controls engineering deliverables
  • System emulation design and testing using latest software tool technologies
  • System Commissioning 

SKILL SET REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive knowledge using AutoCAD Electrical (AutoCAD-E)
  • Effectively plan and manage daily tasks with time critical awareness
  • Demonstrate excellent documentation and organizational skills
  • Effective communication (internal and external)
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Windows operating systems
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Design and application knowledge of core controls automation platforms for hardware and software
  • 8) Experience with hardware and software applications for Allen Bradley, SIEMENS and Modicon Programmable Logic Controllers “PLC”
  • Experience with the design and implementation of System PLC Code emulation
  • Experience with the design and implementation of multiple bus networks
  • Experience with the design and application of integrated motion controllers

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • 50% National and International travel as required to support project implementations. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3 Years as an effective Senior Controls Design Engineer
  • 3 years design and implementation experience of complex controls systems for the material handling industry (minimal complex controls includes technologies such as conveyor, sortation & induction, motion controllers, SCADA, AS/RS and its respective peripheral technologies)
  • Preferred education background of Four year bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BEE) and 2 years practical experience in Electrical – Controls engineering, OR
    Two year associates degree in Electrical Engineering (AE) and 4 years practical experience in Electrical – Controls engineering
