Information Technology Engineer
Apprenticeship time for an information technology engineer is 3 1/2 years.
IT engineers have a profound programming knowledge and create or adapt software and databases. Furthermore, they carry out software and hardware tests, documenting the developed programmes. The IT experts install and configure (create) hardware and software, manage and secure data as well as are responsible for consulting and training for users. A professional and personal education qualifies IT engineers for the development and realisation of maintenance and repair work on existing programmes.
Principal Activities and Duties
- create and test software
- install and configure hardware and software
- analyse, locate and eliminate errors and failures
- determine demand and needs of customers and create requirement analyses for programmes and user interfaces
- adapt existing computer programmes and databases to specific requirements as well as develop new computer programmes
- Advise and train users on new programmes
- read and use technical documents, also in English
- determine workflow, corresponding working equipment and methods
- manage and secure data
