Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
An excellent opportunity to join an established site which has just gone live with a new extension to their hanging garment automated solution to meet increasing demand.
We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to work at an established clothing line on behalf of a leading UK supermarket based in Bedford. The site is 1.2 million square foot, holds roughly 3 million garments across 5 storage levels, and currently dispatches 180,000 orders per day. A new extension to the existing Dürkopp hanging garment system has recently gone live to help improve efficiency and allow for further growth in the e-commerce side of the business.
You’ll join a team of 6 Engineers who are responsible for enhancing, maintaining and servicing the automated garment hanging system. You'll have your mechanical, electrical and software skills utilised on a day-to-day basis, whether it's replacing a transfer conveyor gate or bearing, fault-finding on the panels or PLC (Beckhoff), or carrying out planned maintenance during quieter periods. The split of work will be roughly 80% mechanical and 20% electrical.
You will work closely with the customer and represent TGW during weekly/daily customer meetings and look to build the relationship with the operations and warehouse teams. You’ll work closely with the Site Manager to identify improvements to the system, helping to support the customer’s future growth plans.
Please note, the shift pattern for this role is Sunday-Thursday working days and nights (8 hours, 5 days a week).
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer (preferably electrically-biased) who has experience of reactive and planned maintenance, ideally within an automated warehouse. You will have come from a client-facing environment where you aren’t afraid to offer suggestions and advice based on your experienced assessment.
