In addition to production, Heinrichsthaler Milchwerke has also automated its palletising process to improve the quality of the supply chain and guarantee faster delivery. However, after the multi-channel retailer experienced years of strong growth, the company's distribution centre in Wernberg, Bavaria, started to run up against its performance and capacity limits. Conrad decided the central warehouse facility. The heart of the new system is a powerful, highly dynamic shuttle system with goods-to-person order picking workstations.
The customer service is Würth Elektronik eiSos' flagship division, especially the free sample supplies to the developers. Since 2016, the electronics expert has had a sophisticated logistics centre in Waldenburg, Germany that allows it to reach consumers even faster and more efficiently. Due to strong sales growth in recent years, Würth decided to expand their existing warehouse in the course of a modernisation project and double the capacity of the order fulfillment system.
Musikhaus Thomann, a family-owned company, expanded its existing logistics centre at corporate headquarters in Treppendorf, Germany in 2018. For an investment of 27 million euros, the number of shipments was increased by up to 50 percent and the order processing time was reduced to 28 minutes. This enables the Musikhaus to supply its 12 million customers around the world optimally and in the shortest possible time.
What do you do if the high-pressure cleaner you urgently need has a clogged nozzle? The Kärcher logistics centre in southwest Germany ensures fast replacement of spare parts. The company relies on an intralogistics solution from TGW for this purpose. The Obersontheim facility sends all spare parts, accessories and some of the cleaning agents to its customers each year – this adds up to about 2.8 order lines a year.
In 2018, the freezer specialist Nordfrost decided to invest in a centralised logistics centre for the region of western Germany. As a central hub, the newly constructed building in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia will take over the supply of customers from the entire region. The distribution centre is designed for high picking capacity and quality. Several thousand packaging units per hour can be processed in the DC, to a large extent in an automated process.
The German poultry processing company Wiesenhof rebuilt its meat processing facility, including its distribution centre. The solution, in two different temperature zones for refrigerated and freezer goods, ensures maximum availability and flexible material flows for cartons and meat crates that conform to European standards. Innovative automation technology is utilised in a partly redundant design. The products themselves either come from in-house production or are delivered externally in order to be consolidated in the distribution centre as well as prepared for combined shipping.
Some 13 kilometres northwest of Warsaw, we set up a high-capacity fulfilment centre for Polish e-commerce specialist Frisco.pl. The highly automated solution, spread over 11,000 square metres, covers four temperature zones and enables Frisco to process up to four times as many orders each day than it had previously. In addition, the significant decrease in order lead time makes it possible for Frisco to offer same-day delivery to customers.

The expansion of the logistics centre in Strängnäs will enable the group to consolidate the activities of two distribution centers into one existing facility (brown field installation). The main benefits of the move will be offering customers a better level of service , and reducing inventory holding, overheads and labour costs. The supply chain covers three order types - branches replenishment, workshop orders and e-commerce direct delivery - and is thus an omni-channel model.

In collaboration with Kellner & Kunz, a company of the RECA group, we successfully applied various levers to achieve these targets in automation. Since 1969, GAP has grown from a single retail store to the largest speciality fashion retailer in the US with seven major brands (Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta, Intermix, Hill City, Janie and Jack). GAP's main goal was to improve operational efficiency by reducing the number of manual touches in its DCs. They have invested in highly automated case handling technology over the past eight years at their fulfilment centres in Fishkill (US), Fresno (US), Gallatin (US), Groveport (US) and Brampton (CAN).

Due to strong growth over the last few years, the brand manufacturer decided to invest in a highly automated omni-channel DC in Schlüchtern, Germany. The goal was to centralise all logistics processes in one location, to digitalise and cross-link them.
Near Barcelona, a highly automated global multi-channel distribution centre was created for the Spanish fashion retailer Mango. It centralises all of the fulfilment centres in one location. Currently, this central logistics hub is being used to supply more than 2,200 stores in over 100 countries. The highly automated solution ensures optimum performance and high throughput capacity.
The Swiss grocery retailer Coop has invested 600 million CHF in a new central and highly automated distribution centre. In Schafisheim near Zurich, three regional distribution centres, three freezer distribution centres and three large bakeries have been combined in a single location. The heart of the facility is a fully-automated freezer distribution centre, the refrigerator for refrigerated goods and the empty container control centre, that is helping Coop set new standards.
