We are very excited to share this opportunity with you, we are recruiting for a Database Administrator to join our Lifetime Services Department.
The DBA will be responsible for the management and support of the Oracle databases, create and maintain standards for the databases, manage backup schedules and implement security procedures and policies.
Creation and maintenance of all databases required across the business, this can include development, testing, and production environments.
Performs capacity planning to create and maintain the databases. The DBA will also work closely with the System Administrator to manage other tools and applications that sit on the server(s).
Ongoing maintenance of databases.
Installations of new versions of Oracle RDBMS and associated tools that access the Oracle databases.
Responsible for the planning and implementation of backups and recovery of the Oracle databases, including the owning and managing of the Disaster Recovery Process.
Involvement with new and support for on-going projects.
Controls database changes, program migration, reference data changes through the lifecycle of the project(s).
Implements and maintains security processes and procedures for all Oracle databases.
On-going maintenance of databases to ensure optimum performance and maximise up-time.
Working with the Systems Administrator and developers to plan the installation of new releases/upgrades with minimal impact to the business.
Evaluation of new Oracle releases and any third party products to ensure tools are appropriate.
Provide technical support to the customer support hotline IT and WCS team.
Administration of database objects, this includes tables, indexes, sequences, views, clusters, procedures and packages.
Impact analysis of changes made to the database objects.
Troubleshooting/analysis of database related issues, applications and development tools.
Create SQL stored procedures and scripts.
Creation, maintenance and support of new and existing database users.
Managing sharing of resources amongst applications.
Support the implementation of managed services within LTS.
To be successful in your application, you will be flexible to your approach to working an excellent team player and proficient communicator.
You will also have the following:
Good knowledge of operating systems
Strong physical database design
Oracle and operating system performance monitoring and tuning.
Shell scripting and PL/SQL
Installation and administration of Data Guard
At least one years’ Unix/Linux administration experience.
Excellent knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery procedures (RMAN).
Good knowledge of Oracle security management.
Good knowledge of Oracle resource management.
Experience in code migration, database changes, data and menus through project life cycle.
Strong knowledge of Oracle data integrity.
Knowledge of data replication.
Experience of database and program performance testing.
Willing to participate in an on-call Rota
Willing to work extended shifts as required
5 years’ experience as Oracle DBA (versions 11g and 12c)
Ability to travel regularly throughout UK and Europe
Experience with Mongo DB or MS SQL.
Oracle Certified Professional.
Previous experience of working in a client facing environment
