The Apprentice DBA will work within the DBA team to assist in the management and support of the Oracle databases, follow and maintain standards for the databases, learn and assist within the DBA team the database administrations tasks like backup management, monitoring and alerting.
Assist in the creation & maintenance of all databases required across the business, this could include development, testing and production environments.
Assist in the ongoing maintenance of databases.
Assist in the management of backups and recovery of the Oracle databases, including learning and understanding the Disaster Recovery Process.
Involvement with new and support for on-going projects.
Learn and understand security processes and procedures for all Oracle databases.
Work within the DBA team for ongoing maintenance of databases to ensure optimum performance and maximise availability.
Assist in the evaluation & innovation of Oracle and third party products with aim to improve the TGW DBA customer support role.
Assist in the administration of database objects, this includes tables, indexes, sequences, views, clusters, procedures and packages.
Learn and understand impact analysis of changes made to the database objects.
Learn and understand troubleshooting/analysis of database related issues, applications and development tools.
Create SQL stored procedures, scripts where appropriate, and under the guidance of a senior member of the DBA team.
Support the implementation of managed services within LTS.
