U and E Sales Applications Engineer

The Upgrades and Enhancements (U&E) Department plays a major role within Life Time Services (LTS) at TGW.  As a key member of the U&E Sales team, you will play an important role in supporting the ongoing growth of the U&E function within the Northern Europe Hub (which includes Benelux and Nordic countries) and in helping it to achieve its ambitious 5 year (2025) strategic and financial objectives.

Working within a small team of Sales Project Managers and other Applications Engineers, your focus is to develop order-wining solutions that provide cost effective business benefits to our customers. You will also be required to manage and provide the necessary level of engineering detail so that our U&E solutions are built safely and to all the relevant client requirements including national and international standards.

Good communication skills are required to ensure that a professional relationship with your peers is developed and maintained.

Tasks

  • To prepare the best solutions (cost and technology wise) for specific material handling and storage system requirements.
  • Layout design using AutoCAD
  • Ensure that the right TGW equipment is used (technical detail engineering).
  • Project calculation (in-house TGW selection and costing tools).
  • Provide technical sales support.
  • Attend customer meetings and presentations as required.
  • Some visits to client sites to undertake initial assessments
  • Work closely with experts from TGW’s Austrian headquarters.
  • Technical specifications for 3rd party equipment.
  • Responsible for machine cycle and energy consumption calculations.
  • Designing to the relevant national and international standards.
  • To prepare accurate costings for inclusion into U&E proposals.
  • Identify potential “added value” opportunities.
  • Collaborative, supportive and integrative working with the other U&E colleagues.
  • Support the continuous improvement process within your area.
  • To maintain and develop departmental processes to ensure a continuous drive towards improving efficiency.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities for TGW.
  • Always represent the company in a positive way.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in similar role.
  • Engineering/Technical education to a minimum HNC level
  • Strong knowledge of Materials Handling Equipment and preferably TGW products (mechanics and controls).
  • Experience of engineering costing.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Experience in working in a precise and structured manner.
  • Experienced CAD user (eg AutoCad).
  • The ability to complete 3D layouts is desirable though not necessary
  • Proficient, with MS Word, Excel, Power point and Outlook
