Maintenance Technician

You’re hungry for more training, variety, and challenges in your career…

Main Responsibilities

Another shift of jam-busting and fixing basic faults. The training that was promised you when you came for interview hasn’t materialised, and you feel that you’re in a rut and there’s little to no chance of progressing your skills or role further.

If this describes your situation currently, then we have an opportunity at one of our leading automated client sites based in Crewe that could be exactly what you need.

You’ll work in a small team of 4 TGW Engineers which will give you high visibility and allow close collaboration with our experienced Engineers on your shift. No jam-busting or facilities maintenance work here! Your focus will be reactive and proactive maintenance of the automated materials handling equipment (conveyors, cranes, automated storage and retrieval).

You will utilise your mechanical and electrical skills on a daily basis, whether it’s replacing a broken roller or bearing on a conveyor, or re-wiring a 3-phase motor or troubleshooting PLCs.

Training is a key part of TGW’s culture, so you’ll have hands-on training with our experienced Engineers on site, access to online training courses, and classroom/face-to-face training. Our goal is to progress you to become a fully-fledged Multi-Skilled Engineer.

What can you expect in terms of career progression? Well, to give you some relevant examples, Maintenance Technicians from this site have progressed to work as Multi-Skilled Engineers at larger sites with more complex equipment and technology, or have joined our Field Service Engineering team to cover over 25 sites across Northern Europe.

The shift pattern is 12 hours working 7-7 (7am-7pm & 7pm-7am) on a 4-on-4-off shift pattern.

About You

You’ll hold an electrical qualification (Level 2 BTEC/NVQ/City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering) or have completed a relevant electrical or engineering apprenticeship. You’ll have prior experience of maintaining warehouse or industrial systems, ideally in an environment utilising some form of automation.

In addition, as you’ll be on our customer site full-time, you will have excellent communication skills and a customer focus.

In addition, you'll receive TGW's comprehensive benefits package which includes 22 days annual holiday entitlement with the option to buy a further 3 days of flexible holiday, a contributory pension scheme, up to 50% gym discounts, cycle to work scheme, access to discounts via our affinity scheme, and many more!
