Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
An established automated site for a leading national supermarket, which has been utilising TGW’s equipment since 2017. Having recently moved to a new team structure, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on the continuous improvement activities across the site and work with leading automated equipment.
We’re looking to bring two Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineers to join our existing client site based in Heston, Hounslow. The client is one of the UK’s leading supermarkets and this site is one of three which utilises TGW’s automated solution. TGW's equipment includes flat conveyors, spiralveyors, automated picking stations and high-speed storage and retrieval shuttles.
The TGW on-site team numbers 14 in total, which will mean on any shift there will always be three TGW Engineers on shift (Engineering Team Leader, Engineer and a Technician) providing a clear escalation path. In addition, you’ll have support from TGW’s remote hotline team made up of specialist Controls/PLC Engineers and WCS specialists.
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you’ll have an incredibly varied workload due to the range of equipment utilised on the site. Your duties could include carrying out servicing on the conveyors to replace a broken roller or bearing, fault-finding on the BUS network and panels, conducting meetings with the customer’s operation teams to identify improvement areas, servicing the shuttle modules, coordinating planned preventative maintenance, or leading on breakdowns.
You will work a 12-hour Panama shift pattern, covering Monday-Sunday days (7am-7pm) and nights (7pm-7am). The shift will rotate between days and nights in two-weekly cycles.
You’ll be an electrically-biased Engineer with experience of working in an operational engineering role and ideally has had some experience with automated equipment (conveyors, lifts, shuttles, etc.). You will be confident in communicating with different individuals and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Previous experience with PLC/controls systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron, etc.) and/or Warehouse Management Systems would also be desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds in electrical engineering or have a completed electrical apprenticeship.
- Previous experience of working in an operational engineering role within a similar environment
- Excellent communication skills and customer focus
- Ability to work in a time critical environment
- Mechanical qualification
- PLC fault-finding experience
- FMCG or Food/Drink Manufacturing sector experience
