How Lifetime Services optimizes warehouse automation in grocery logistics

Dinosol: A leading grocery logistics platform powered by TGW Logistics

As one of the leading supermarket chains in the Canary Islands, Dinosol stands out for its commitment to quality, product availability, and customer satisfaction. In today’s highly demanding grocery logistics environment, operational reliability is essential to ensure efficient store replenishment and consistent service levels.

To meet these requirements, Dinosol operates one of the most advanced automated supply chain and warehouse automation platforms in the archipelago, located in Telde (Gran Canaria). With more than 53,000 sqm dedicated to frozen, fresh, and dry goods, the facility integrates a highly scalable warehouse automation system from TGW Logistics in the dry goods area.

Within a 3,000 sqm footprint, the system manages more than 20,000 totes and thousands of medium- and slow-moving SKUs, optimizing automated picking performance and supplying more than 280 stores.

To ensure maximum system availability, Dinosol relies on Lifetime Services from TGW Logistics, acting as a strategic partner for daily operations and long-term automated warehouse efficiency.

A structured maintenance model for maximum system availability and reliability

Operations at the facility are based on a comprehensive maintenance model designed to maximize system availability and uptime and minimize downtime in a high-performance warehouse automation environment. The Lifetime Services team, consisting of seven technicians working in coordinated shifts, along with a Deputy Manager and under the leadership of a Resident Engineering Manager, combines corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance within a continuous improvement framework focused on operational excellence.

Using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), maintenance tasks are automatically scheduled based on equipment type and usage, ensuring interventions aligned with intralogistics maintenance standards and automated warehouse maintenance best practices. This structured approach enables early issue detection, reduces unplanned downtime, and improves overall system efficiency.

Continuous operational monitoring is another key pillar. The team supervises the installation in real time, identifies anomalies, and responds quickly to incidents, whether through immediate corrective actions or planned interventions. All activities are recorded in the TGW software platform WERX, enabling full data transparency, trend analysis, and data-driven optimization of warehouse performance.

Beyond technical maintenance, additional methodologies reinforce operational performance, including 5S principles (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain), structured spare parts management, internal procedures, and third-party equipment monitoring. This holistic approach ensures stability and continuous optimization of automated warehouse operations.

Weekly coordination meetings align all activities, allowing the team to review incidents, plan upcoming tasks, and identify improvement opportunities, ensuring continuous system optimization and performance improvement.

Coordination and collaboration with the customer

The success of the warehouse automation solution is also driven by close collaboration between TGW Logistics and Dinosol. At the operational level, daily meetings ensure alignment on incidents, priorities, and system status. At a strategic level, monthly reviews focus on performance evaluation, continuous improvement, and future logistics and automation requirements.

This structured communication ensures stable, flexible, and scalable warehouse operations aligned with business objectives.

Developing young talent in warehouse and intralogistics automation

The logistics platform also serves as a training environment for students from Noroeste Santa María de Guía Secondary School, enrolled in Automation and Industrial Robotics programs.

Students gain hands-on experience in warehouse automation, intralogistics systems, and industrial maintenance, building skills aligned with the growing demand for automation specialists in logistics and supply chain operations. This initiative supports the development of young talent and helps build a strong foundation of skilled professionals in automated logistics environments, thanks to the collaboration between TGW Logistics and Dinosol.

Operational stability to support growth

Thanks to the Lifetime Services team, Dinosol achieves high system availability, reduced errors, and efficient resource planning. The result is a highly reliable and scalable operation that allows the company to focus on growth and expansion.

In a sector where product availability is critical, the combination of warehouse automation, advanced intralogistics solutions, and lifetime maintenance services creates a clear competitive advantage in modern grocery logistics.
