TGW’s conveyor-based order picking solution provides a standardized Person-to-Goods split-case picking system
that ensures cost-effective order fulfillment of fast moving or bulky stock-keeping units (SKUs).
Operators pick items from designated zones, which are typically 20 to 40 feet (6 to 12 meters) long, and contain a certain number of SKUs. Guided by pick-by-light, pick-by-voice or radio frequency (RF) terminals, operators pick a single order, minimizing the margin of error.
Pick positions are designed as pallets, flow channels or shelves—depending on the throughput and volume of each SKU—to optimize overall replenishment and minimize picking costs. In this scenario, operators can achieve pick rates of 150 to 400 picks per hour. Filled order totes/cartons travel via a conveyor network through different zones until each order is complete.
