The Production Manager is responsible for the technical management, supervision and control of industrial production processes. This position ensures manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently, producing high quality product that is delivered on time and within budget.
- Oversees daily operations of production processes.
- Plans and organizes production schedules; assesses project and resource requirements; allocates resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
- Estimates, negotiates and sets budgets and timescales with managers.
- Develops systems and processes to track and optimize productivity and standards.
- Determines quality control standards.
- Create and Implement strategies, in alignment with strategic initiatives, and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
- Provides leadership and management to supervisory group and workgroup including hiring, firing, training and performance management.
- Gathers, analyzes and reports measurable results, seeking to improve processes and behaviors to maximize productivity and profit.
- Ensures health and safety regulations are met.
- Organizes the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment.
- Liaises with buyers and sales to ensure accurate materials planning and product delivery.
- Represents TGW professionally while addressing employee issues, grievances and during collective bargaining discussions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Several years experience working in a manufacturing facility in supervisory roles with with demonstrated history of progressive responsibility.
- Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and ERP applications.
- Direct experience with business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
- Knowledgeable about safety, quality, productivity, inventory, and assembly systems and processes (e.g., cell versus line).
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
- Prior Union experience a plus but not required.
