We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineers to join a brand new client site based in Dartford, Kent to provide a broad-based electrical, mechanical, facilities management and software maintenance service. The client is one of the UK’s leading supermarkets and the Dartford site will be the third automated distribution centre that will utilise TGW’s leading automated solution for their home delivery service.

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will support the client’s automated warehouse solution, which will have flat conveyors, spiral conveyors and high-speed shuttles. You will support continuous improvement activities on the site to ensure that the solution operates at maximum efficiency with minimal downtime. You will coordinate all planned preventative maintenance activities and lead breakdowns or escalations.
 
You will work within a team of 13 TGW employees that will make up the Residential Engineering Team on-site, working a 12 hours pitman shift schedule (Monday-Sunday, days and nights working 7-7). This will mean that there will always be three TGW employees on shift at one time.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Autonomous maintenance activities of the automated equipment on site including, pallet conveyors, twin mast pallet cranes, weight checks, pallet lifts and pallet checks
  • Support the automation to operate at its maximum efficiency ensuring that the customers’ orders are not missed
  • Comply with all current, future health and safety legislation at all times
  • Attend customer meetings providing any updates on the automation solution
  • Continually improve the performance of the equipment and how you work
  • Actively work with the customer to optimise the automation performance
  • Co-ordinate all planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities
  • Work with a right-first-time mindset at all times
  • Be operationally minded with all decisions
  • Lead/co-ordination of any automation breakdowns and escalations

Key requirements

The ideal candidate will be an experienced multi-skilled Engineer who ideally has experience with automated equipment (conveyors, lifts, shuttles, etc.). You will have come from a client-facing environment and experience of mentoring and coordinating more junior members of a team. Previous experience with PLC and/or Warehouse Management Systems would also be desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.  

Essential 
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or an electrical qualification such as 17th edition
  • Previous experience of working in an operational engineering role within a similar environment
  • Able to work a pitman shift pattern Monday-Sunday, 7-7.

Desirable
  • Experience of working with Warehouse Management Systems is preferable
  • PLC fault-finding experience 
  • FMCG or Food/Drink Manufacturing sector experience
