Controls Retrofit Engineer (M/F/D)*
The Controls Retrofit Engineer is responsible for leading complex retrofit engineering projects including control system design, control panel engineering, PLC, HMI, and robotics programming, and providing site start-up support of material-handling equipment and automation equipment for the material handling, manufacturing, and logistics industries.
What you’ll be handling
- Serves as subject matter expert on retrofit control systems and electrical engineering principles and provides expert knowledge and guidance to colleagues as needed.
- Provides control systems design technical leadership in a matrixed environment, ensuring on-time schedule, performance, project milestones, customer deliverables, and compliance with regulations and standards.
- Applies electrical engineering principles to analyze, propose, design, program, test and troubleshoot control systems associated within complex material handling systems.
- Reviews contract documentation and customer specifications and creates equipment specifications and detailed design documentation for the development of appropriate control solutions.
- Supports realization team on project installation, commissioning and testing of control systems, traveling frequently as required.
- Develops technical documentation including control system specifications and engineering procedures and assists with creation of user manuals.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of four (4) years of controls engineering experience, preferably in a material-handling, industrial, or manufacturing environment. (Retrofit experience preferred.)
- Advanced knowledge of PLC ladder logic and programming and proficiency in Siemens, Rockwell and Allen Bradley PLCs.
- Thorough understanding of fieldbus systems and I/O equipment, e.g., Profibus, Profinet, ASi, TCP/IP.
- Advanced understanding of other controls automation-related equipment, e.g. Bar code scanners, HMIs, Variable frequency drives.
