Distribution centre for e-com orders

the
goal:
more efficiency

Some 13 kilometres northwest of Warsaw, we set up a high-capacity fulfilment centre for Polish e-commerce specialist Frisco.pl. The highly automated solution, spread over 11,000 square metres, covers four temperature zones and enables Frisco to process up to four times as many orders each day than it had previously. In addition, the significant decrease in order lead time makes it possible for Frisco to offer same-day delivery to customers.

STRATEGY

Due to continuously increasing demand, Frisco.pl. has reached the limits of its capacity. To create the basis for planned growth in the years to come, an automated fulfilment centre has been built. The TGW solution is scalable and thus highly flexible. It boosts the efficiency of the intralogistics processes of Frisco.pl and helps to deliver orders to customers quickly while maintaining ideal product quality.

SOLUTION & MATERIAL FLOW

GOODS RECEIPT AND STORAGE

In the goods receiving area, the goods are delivered on pallets and then repackaged in totes at ergonomic workstations. Separated into dry goods and refrigerated goods, the totes are transported to the shuttle warehouse (36,000 storage locations) and put into storage. More than 4,000 order items can be stored and retrieved every hour.

Order picking

Order picking takes place at a total of 12 ergonomic workstations in two different versions:

  • Goods-to-person picking: The required goods are removed from storage directly from the shuttle warehouse and conveyed in sequence to the TGW PickCenter workstations, where they are picked in order totes.
  • Person-to-goods picking: At the conveyor system-based workstations, fast-moving items, as well as large and bulky items, are picked.

PACKING AND SHIPPING

All finished totes are loaded automatically into roll containers using a TGW robot cell and made available for shipping. The goods are then delivered to the customers in special transport vehicles.

Highlight: tgw Software

TGW Warehouse Software ensures that all processes run smoothly. It is responsible for ensuring that the goods are picked in the distribution centre efficiently, just in time, and according to the customer's packaging instructions.

TGW Warehouse Software is used at Picnic.
