Founded in 1978, HiperDino is the leading grocery chain in the Canary Islands. With more than 230 supermarkets and a distribution network covering the entire archipelago, the company operates in one of Europe’s most demanding logistics environments. The challenge: Efficiency and space in an insular logistics environment
The distribution center located in Telde, Gran Canaria, is the largest food logistics and distribution platform in the Canary Islands, covering more than 53,000 sqm of floor space. As volumes increased, the limitations of conventional logistics became clear. HiperDino faced four key challenges:
- Managing geographical complexity: Insularity requires specific planning for maritime freight transport.
- Optimizing existing space: With annual growth rates of 7-8%, the facility was reaching its limits - and expanding the building's footprint was not an option.

- Ensuring end-to-end traceability: Strict EU regulations for tobacco products require multiple code readings within seconds - leaving no room for error.
