TGW Ltd earns dual Gold Accreditations for trailblazing Apprenticeship Programme

From engineering to business support, TGW Logistics' award-winning apprenticeship scheme now spans multiple departments and welcomes 15 new apprentices in 2025.

  • NextGen Gold Accreditation for Engineering Apprenticeships (2025) and Gold Accreditation from Investors in People for “We Invest in Apprentices.”.
  • Apprenticeship Programme has expanded from engineering roots into multiple business areas including IT, L&D, Finance, and Business Support, welcoming 15 new apprentices in 2025.
  • Strong mentoring and support help apprentices grow into key roles.

(Market Harborough, October 2025) TGW Ltd is proud to celebrate the outstanding success of its Apprenticeship Programme, which has grown from a pioneering initiative launched into a nationally recognised gold-standard scheme for developing future talent.

From its inception, the programme was designed to build a pipeline of skilled professionals across TGW’s business. Initially launched with two streams in Solutions Design, with apprentices completing Computer Aided Design (CAD) work, and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) engineering providing remote technical support and writing computer code, the programme quickly expanded into Field engineering and later into Controls systems and software and Project engineering. Over time, apprenticeships were introduced across new business areas including IT (2021), Learning & Development (2023) and Finance (2025), reflecting TGW’s commitment to integrating talent development throughout the organisation across a spectrum of functions. Just recently TGW Ltd welcomed 15 new apprentices across Life Time Services, Realisation and Business Support.

“Apprentices are the future of our business,” said Brian Hendry, Head of Learning and Development. “Our programme has created real impact with former apprentices now thriving in key roles and bringing fresh ideas and spearheading innovation in every part of TGW. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them grow from learners into leaders and knowing we’re building a culture where talent is nurtured and given every opportunity to succeed ” Brian added, “As a foundation-owned company, TGW reinvests the majority of profits into our employees and new technologies, allowing us to support the personal and technical growth of our teams and stay on the cutting edge of logistics automation.”

From Vision to Gold Standard

Driven by a vision to be “best in class’, TGW has continued to elevate its programme by introducing enhanced mentor training, targeted soft skills development and technical training aligned to industry standards. As well as annual apprentice events, regular structured feedback sessions reinforce a culture of continuous improvement.

The commitment has brought national recognition. In April 2024, TGW Ltd was awarded the NextGen Silver Accreditation for its Engineering Apprenticeships, followed by the prestigious NextGen Gold Accreditation in April 2025, officially recognising TGW Ltd as an Excellent Employer for Engineering Apprenticeships

Reflecting TGW pursued recognition beyond engineering and was also awarded Gold Accreditation from Investors in People for its “We Invest in Apprentices” standard, testament to the company’s culture of care, development and excellence.

“It’s fabulous to see TGW’s Engineering Apprenticeship Programme recognised with Gold for NextGen’s Best Practice and by Investors in Apprentices,” says Rebecca Davis, who was appointed Early Careers Manager in 2023. Under her leadership, TGW introduced structured frameworks to ensure apprentices receive consistent guidance, effective support and high-quality learning provision.

“What makes our programme so rewarding is that everything we do is centred around our apprentices: their growth, their skills and their experience. We’re not just building careers, we’re nurturing future talent and creating an environment where they feel supported, valued and ready to thrive,” Rebecca Davies concluded.
