Resident Automation Technician Team Lead

(M/F/D)*

This role is responsible for supporting the customer on all automation related topics as well as supervising the day to day operations of a TGW resident technician team. The Resident Automation Technician Team Lead acts as a key liaison and escalation point for the customer on all automation and TGW personnel related topics. A strong overall knowledge of electrical, mechanical, controls automation and software support, with the ability to provide technical support to the customer, are key skill sets for this role.

What you’ll be handling

  • Serve as the point person between the supported facility and assigned Lifetime Services team for automation and personnel-related topics.
  • Work closely with the Site Engineering Manager to develop your team, helping to identify training needs, coordinating the shift work, approving hours and PTO.
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities pertaining to automated equipment onsite, including conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, and carton-opening systems.  Provide hands-on assistance with such maintenance activities, lead efforts to resolve issues requiring in-depth technical knowledge, and communicate maintenance activities to the customer as needed.
  • Assign work orders to the team and ensure completion of such tasks, and providing assistance as needed.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the customer, ensure compliance with all health and safety guidelines, requirements, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ensure the team is trained and kept up to date on safety guidelines, as well as drive and build upon continuous improvement through documentation.

What you’ll need

  • Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. Five plus (5+) years of demonstrated experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in industrial, warehousing/distribution, manufacturing, or related environments with additional experience holding formal or informal leadership roles.
  • Previous experience in electromechanical troubleshooting and repair of material-handling conveyors, AS/RS, and shuttle systems.
  • Familiarity with SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition interface) experience.
  • Profibus and Profinet experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings for use in diagnostics. PLC programming and troubleshooting knowledge, preferred.
